Man, this project just reminded me that I need something just like this to mow around a couple steep banks at my place that I can't get at with the zero-turn or the shredder... Thanks for the inspiration Fawteen!

Maybe it's a crazy idea, but why not use solid steel rod for strings? I have seen string trimmer heads that use the rigid steel wire beaters. They attach through an eye at one end. Even heat treated and twisted might improve cutting surfaces.

For the moment, the heavy duty "string" works well as long as I stay out of woody/shrubby stuff.
What do you mean I can't do that?
