Hello, I check in here a couple of times a week but this is my first time posting I'm an amateur blacksmith and wood worker, when time allows. My last project was a wagon I built for our first granddaughter. It was actually patterned after a wagon built by the Heider Tractor Co. back in the day. It has an oak bed and tongue with wire wheels, but what really caught my eye was the manner in which it turned. Unlike the little red wagons I had growing up where the whole axle turned with the tongue, this wagon has spindles end king pins and turns like an automobile. I built the wagon from photos and a few measurements obtained from a museum that has an original. I hand forged the frame work trying not have any welds but, not having any casting facilities I had to make two welds. The original had forged spindles and a portion of the tongue, and hand brakes which I left off for now. The bed is stained dark, the undercarriage is done in black and the spoke wheels were sand blasted (remove zinc coating) painted red. I am not real computer savy, but when I figure out how to post a pic I'll try and do so.

Greetings Royboy,

Great project...kinda makes a guy wonder if any homebuilt stuff will be around in 100 years...
More to the point that if you build it your decendents will keep and care for it for that Long.

I will check back and see if you made pictures. 8)
